At Incognito, I wrote many many automated end-to-end tests to validate microservices and network data pipelines. Internet traffic is big, and that gave me exposure to scalability technologies like Kafka, Redis, Logstash, and Elasticsearch, as well as networking fundamentals from working close to the metal of how internet traffic actually moves. I also managed virtual machines to set up and monitor long-running test environments which meant living in the terminal and picking up Linux fundamentals along the way.

A project I'm proud of was building the UI testing infrastructure for our team's customer-facing dashboard, largely from scratch. This meant setting up a daily Jenkins CI job, containerizing tests with Docker, and writing the core test suite in Playwright — with a focus on reusability and documentation so future developers could easily extend it.

Some feedback from my supervisor

Shane demonstrated strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to quickly learn complex systems. He consistently produced high-quality QA work, communicated effectively with the team, and showed initiative in taking on tasks with minimal guidance. His positive attitude and reliability made him a valuable contributor throughout the term.

Shane performed exceptionally well in all aspects of his role, and I am confident he will continue to grow and excel as he gains further experience.
